The True Version of The Truth

“After high school, Dave attended University of Missouri-Columbia and earned a degree in Economics.” – Dave Spence for Governor website. 7:10 a.m. Jan. 11, 2012.

“After high school, Dave attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he majored in family economics and management (also known as consumer economics) and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Home Economics.” — Dave Spence for Governor website  6:10 a.m.  Jan. 13, 2012

Republican candidate for Governor Dave Spence, after being verbally beaten about the head and shoulders all week by opponents within and without his own party, has changed his official biography on his official campaign website.

The Good Book tells us, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  We consulted a dozen versions of the Bible and find them split on whether the truth will SET you free or MAKE you free.  This is one of the great verses of the Bible that is applied out of context to any number of circumstances and did not originally refer to Missouri politics. But this is one of those times when it can be applied.

The true version of the truth sets Dave Spence free to focus his campaign on what he has done with his degree in Home Ec and he’s done a lot.  This distraction from focusing on that is now mostly behind him. Or at least he hopes it is.  We’ve watched a lot of campaigns and wouldn’t be surprised to see this issue resurrected (as we continue to make religious references) as the campaign warms.

The truth might have made Dave Spence free.  Whether it makes Dave Spence governor is something else .  We’ll be reporting on that in the next six months or so.
