The senate is technically meeting today.  Just a couple of senators will call a meeting to order and will adjourn. It has to be done under the constitution to keep the clock going.  The House will have a technical meeting this week, too.  Who knows how long this special session will linger?  It reminds us of a Monty Python skit:

The Dead Collector:   Bring out yer dead.

(A man brings a body to the cart)

Man: Here’s one.

Body:  I’m not dead.

Collector:  He says he’s not dead.

Man:  Yes he is.

Body: I’m not.

Collector:  He isn’t.

Man:  Well, he will be soon. He’s very ill.

Body: I’m feeling better.

Man: No, you’re not. You’ll be stone dead in a moment.

Collector:  Well, I can’t take him like that.

Body:    I don’t want to go on the cart.

Man:  Oh, don’t be such a baby.

Collector:  I can’t take him.

Body: I feel fine.

Man:  Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes?  He won’t be long.

The special session isn’t dead.  There are those who wish it was.  But it’s not ready to climb onto the cart.
